Who’s Racing The CVS Race?

I did take the time to post the rules for you Eagle. There are only two classes, graphite and Oil. Same rules for both.

Thanks for that oobigfish. It is a real pain having my IP address blocked. I've been told those rules have been/were changed.

I've had enough problems with Joel changing rules in the past (including, but not limited to long standing rules being changed after cars were shipped before the race) that I would want confirmed rules before I even started or recommended.

I meet via Zoom with students on Tues and Thurs. So, if someone wants to get me the latest/confirmed rules and post them in the thread I started I'll let them know. I personally am on to other things, so unless my girls change their minds we are out. I thought there were some other classes being run over the weekend, and thought we could do a joint mail in, but I guess not.

Once we get thru April and all the decisions that have to be made with schools not reopening this school year I will likely ask if/how I might be able to host an event during normal summer vacation, so that local scouts, students, and others might have a chance to race.

I have some ideas for additional events. With help from Chuy and support from others it will be incorporated either in to upcoming event and/or WCGP.

I cannot tell you how many people have told me they wished they would have participated in www.TheWestCoastGrandPrix.com. Had it not been when it was it too would have been cancelled by authorities.

He may have added MA wheels, but unless he changed a lot they are not MA rules. MA rules are far easier to judge then pretty much any Scout (actual) rules. It is ridiculous when they say they are use out of the box rules and you show up and they have boxes, gauges, and pages of rules. And, even worse when they attempt to enforse something that is clearly not in the rules.

This race will be free of charge, however this is our soul income so any donation will be appreciated but not at all expected. The race will be a proxy race,(all cars that will be racing on Saturday will need to be here by Thursday April 30th. The race will be streamed live on YouTube so you can all be part of the action. We so truly appreciate all your support, and hope to serve you in the future!! There will be trophies and working on some other giveaways, if you are interested in donating prizes for giveaways please Private Message me. Any questions post them here. One last thing. Race to have fun, to enjoy the experience. If you don’t have the means or desire to run the latest and greatest stuff, no big deal. HAVE FUN no matter how fast you are. Don’t deny your child or yourself the experience because you may not win.

Car Body (the wooden structure that holds the weight, axles and other add ons)/ Total Car Dimensions

Wheel Base : Any as long as wheels do not exceed the 7″ total length requirement
Total Car Height : Not to exceed 3″ inches…
Total Car Length : Not to exceed 7″ inches…
Total Car Width : Not to exceed 2-3/4″ inches…
Total Car Weight : Not to exceed 143.0 grams or under on a 1/10th scale...

4 Axles & Wheels must be installed to the side of the car body directly across from one another / No more than a 10 degree angle

Track Center Rail Height : 1/4″ inch ( 7mm ) *
Track Center Rail Width : 1 5/8″ inches (4.2 cm) *

* Wheels must clear the outside to outside center rail width measurement

a. Minimum diameter .084
b. Axles must have a nail head

a. May be CnCed, lathed, polished and/or sanded to true the edge of tread, surface and circumference
b. The tread / contact surface must remain flat and parallel to the bore as humanly possible
c. No Angling, Reshaping, Canting, Round Crowning, Tapering, H-ing, V-ing, Dishing, the outside of the wheels and/or tread surface
d. All markings must remain on the outside of the wheel
f. .360 Minimum Width of wheel, inner edge of tread to outer sidewall. (Inner hub does not count in width measurement)
g. No removing the letters or spokes, or drilling additional holes on the outside of the wheel.(lettering does not need to be present on the inside of the wheel)
h. Each wheel must be attached by an axle, no guide pins allowed.
i. Wheels may not be reversed, they must run in standard orientation.
j. Non-dominate/lifted wheel must meet wheel specifications.
k. All four wheels on car must be the same brand.

The following Modifications are not allowed

a. Starting or finish line devices
b. Electronic or lighting devices
c. Glass or extremely fragile parts
d. Paint that is wet, smudges or extremely sticky
e. Bearings and/or Bushings
f. Sharp objects, sandpaper or abrasives on the bottom of car (We do not want any damage to the rubber stopping pads)
g. Axles and/or wheels attached to any device that mechanically or alters rotation and spin
h. Any part of the car to go beyond the starting peg
j. Proponents "

Those do not appear to be the most recent rules. Here is what was posted on the NPWDRL Facebook page on April 9th. The NPWDRL website is not updated.  These rules actually have the "7.5mm tread width" added in the wheel section.

Thanks for clearing that up. I saw the discussion about 7.5 mm width but must have missed it when I copied them.
