With all the Pinewood derby races being cancelled all across America there are a lot of heavy heart’s. Well we are going to help. Maximum Velocity is teaming up with the National Pinewood Derby Racing League (www.npwdrl.com), Derby Worx, and Derby Evolution on May 2nd to host the Coronavirus Sucks race. There will be a graphite and oil class. Door prizes? Ya we have those, thanks to our awesome sponsors your cars will return home with some swag. See the rules posted below.(slight change to the original post, to allow for Mid America wheel cuts to race)
This race will be free of charge, however this is our soul income so any donation will be appreciated but not at all expected. The race will be a proxy race,(all cars that will be racing on Saturday will need to be here by Thursday April 30th. The race will be streamed live on YouTube so you can all be part of the action. We so truly appreciate all your support, and hope to serve you in the future!! There will be trophies and working on some other giveaways, if you are interested in donating prizes for giveaways please Private Message me. Any questions post them here. One last thing. Race to have fun, to enjoy the experience. If you don’t have the means or desire to run the latest and greatest stuff, no big deal. HAVE FUN no matter how fast you are. Don’t deny your child or yourself the experience because you may not win.

b. The tread / contact surface must remain flat and parallel to the bore as humanly possible
c. No Angling, Reshaping, Canting, Round Crowning, Tapering, H-ing, V-ing, Dishing, the outside of the wheels and/or tread surface
d. All markings must remain on the outside of the wheel
f. .360 Minimum Width of wheel or 7.5mm tread width, inner edge of tread to outer sidewall. (Inner hub does not count in width measurement)
g. No removing the letters or spokes, or drilling additional holes on the outside of the wheel.(lettering does not need to be present on the inside of the wheel)
h. Each wheel must be attached by an axle, no guide pins allowed.
i. Wheels may not be reversed, they must run in standard orientation.
j. Non-dominate/lifted wheel must meet wheel specifications.
k. All four wheels on the car must be the same brand.
The following Modifications are not allowed
a. Starting or finish line devices
b. Electronic or lighting devices
c. Glass or extremely fragile parts
d. Paint that is wet, smudges or extremely sticky
e. Bearings and/or Bushings
f. Sharp objects, sandpaper or abrasives on the bottom of car (We do not want any damage to the rubber stopping pads)
g. Axles and/or wheels attached to any device that mechanically or alters rotation and spin
h. Any part of the car to go beyond the starting peg
j. Propellants
