I also have this car and one other that never got finished or raced. Maybe I'll find time and funds (poor artist) to get them done, I'd like to race again sometime. P.S. if there's any doubt about these being my car's and that I'm the real me, I can submit a "Proof of Life" photo. Lol What were you using to mask for the stripes on the red/black car? I like the effect.

Well, if we have to submit proof of life pics, I choose 19yr old self As long as your 19 year old self can be photographed with you favorite Derby car and a current news paper showing the date 😁 Sounds like it's Photoshop time!

Not that anyone really cares, but I found the post that has my times for my first two cars "Invader" and "Coffin Nail". Keeping in mind that Coffin Nail was rebuilt junk and Invader was built with limited knowledge and tools, I think I did ok for my first real League Race against all out Pro Races.

I like the effect. Car was painted Red, them taped with Green Striping Tape (1/8 or 1/16 I forget which) then black was sprayed on. After it dried I removed tape and used 600 grit to sand through the paint a bit so the lines were no longer sharp edged to crest the effect. Tape can be bought at CoastAirbrush

Here's a shot of "Invader" and its shipping box. Invader was the second car I ever built and sent to Mid America in 2013(?) and ran just under 3 seconds as I recall. INVADER Photo View AttachmentI like the photo attached to box. You'd be surprised how many times my son gets asked what is up

INVADER Photo I like the photo attached to box. You'd be surprised how many times my son gets asked what is up I came up with the photo idea for Proxy Racing. It gives my Proxy all the info as to what car goes in what box, which way it faces in the box and who the car and box belongs to. Theres even more info inside the box indicating which way the car goes in the box as well as Dominant Front Wheel, mailing address, etc.

Tonight I started shaping a DerbyDad body I bought back in 2013 and never got to. Hoping I can finish this and the red & black car sometime in the near future. Photos are first shaping and first primer. I'll do some more shaping now that the primer will help me see the shape as I go.

It's a pre-drilled DerbyDad body. I don't have the tools for drilling accurately. Yes, in some ways it's similar to the Red & Black car

Yes, in some ways it's similar to the Red & Black car Have you heard of micro's clear jig? Definitely a good investment if you come up with some scratch in the future. I'd also double-check the alignment on the pre-drilled body, either with the Lightninboy speed-square method or the 1-2-3-block-and-pin-gage method, or both. I've heard varying reports on the alignment they got from pre-drills...sometimes due to just natural wood warpage.

I just found a new table top in the trash the other day, so I can make a tuning board of sorts and look at the alignment. Yes, I've seen ClearJig mentioned a few times, but haven't looked at it yet. At the moment I literally have no funds for lunch much less tools. I've been stuck doing some serious home repairs that have kept me from producing and selling any artwork for quite some time. So any cars I'm building at the moment are parts and such from 2016 and I may have to gut the older cars for some stuff. I know people cry poor all the time .. but I have no job other than living on Art Sales ... when they try that, then they'll know what poor is.
