Ok gents...
The idea of a new race league has been tossed around this forum for awhile now...
so it is high time we start to organize it.
I am thinking that in addition to our Concept Car Challenge... we should probably have some straight up race classes.
Probably an SS style class with some slightly more inclusive rules...
and probably a more inclusive BASX class.
Please chime in as we are looking to completely reshape the PWD, so new ideas are welcome.
I am also thinking that it would be great to welcome new fellas to the league, and the hobby, by helping them answer the burning question: ”What is a fast time for a 42’ track?”

So... let’s examine this burning question.
What exactly is the newbie asking?
Is he asking what a fast time is for an unlimited? Nope Is he asking a fast time for a fender car with pre 2009 wheels? How about a box stock class that allows axles from a 1972 PWD box where the axles were .092”? Probably not.
He probably beat the hell outta the rest of the pack... and now he wants to know where he stacks up nationally in an apples to apples competition. Quite a novel idea!

He probably doesn’t want to spend a ton of money to buy new wheels and axles and build a whole new car...
Hell... he doesn’t even want to learn all the nuances of shipping the damn thing.
He just wants an answer to his question without all the hoopla. This seems doable to me.

We will look back on this as the moment when it all turned around.
I have been thinking about a cheap idiot proof shipping method... highly disposable.
I will handle the concierge, 1st class shipping arrangements for all newbies.
They will race on a standardized track that will never be broken down.
A pace car of our fastest car will run against it with equal parts and times will be posted and accumulated.
Standards will be developed for record breaking cars and tear downs will be a must.

I agree, almost 100% of newbies are dads either wanting to know how to beat their pack or having just beat their pack.

Being the voice in the wilderness... I like the ideas being tossed about, expecially offering an “industry standard” track experience. Keep in mind, that track needs to be purchased, maintained, and housed. There are logistics issues involved here to maintain a permanent location vs. a traveling temporary concept challenge event.
Not being negative, keeping it real. I do like where the conversation is going, lets maintain focus and discuss how this would be done.

Well, if it helps, I don't plan to take mine down once fully polished.

Ok... so... that settles it!
The official headquarters of New World Order League will be located in El Paso, in that great PWD loving state of Texas.
It will be a traveling show so we can play many venues...
But El Paso is where the PWD equivalent of the Swiss atomic clock will be stationed and housed.
When will we be up and running, Chuy?
I can make a grand announcement on the FB forum. First I want to make a new FB account under the name of The Pinewood Illuminati.

So, we've got the location for first race and are awaiting a date. Is the name locked in? Or, is there still some discussion?
Names like: Innovative, Banned, and Unique PWD Racing Ultimate Derby Racing Best of the Best in PWD Proving Grounds International Pinewood Racers
would likely attract more Scout dads and sound more like some place I would want to check out.

Always the voice of reason eh Eagle?
OK... I sorta liked New World Order of PWD Racing League... but figured it was a little long.
So... I have to admit that I am not fully sold on the shortened version since it seems a little vague...
I still like the NWO feel of things though...
We should probably toss some ideas in here and see what the others think.
Gotta admit that the ones you just floated seem a little tame to me (Proving Grounds could probably work for the name of the headquarters though)
We can take the top choices and have a poll... if it really doesn’t work out... then we can burn that bridge when we come to it.
it would be extra special if our acronym could be MNOP.

We can always have a tag line and use some of the suggestions.
