Pull up a chair, here's a good story.
We originally planned to send a car to MA, but focused more on building our Council car. Since our Council only has a race every few years or so, we definitely wanted to attend the event with the finest car we could build. Our Council race was scheduled for today, however, they informed us late this week the race was cancelled due to venue issues, just our luck.
After completing our Council car we began building our MA car, as life goes , things around here got pretty busy and we neglected the build. As the deadline approached we got our fire back and decided to try and complete the build and get the car shipped out the Monday before the race, and hope it would make it there for the Wednesday deadline. We had about 24 hours to finish the build and get it shipped , we hurried along and hoped for the best.
As many of you know, there have been numerous.... shall we say "arguments" and "discussions", that I and several others have been part of. Some of these "talks" were quite nasty, with threats and innuendos thrown around about damaging others cars at the MA event. I thought if we do send a car in, we would do so incognito.
We were successful in getting the car done in time, but we weren't able to do everything we wanted to the car, and noticed one of the back wheels had a terrible migration issue. We tuned the car as best we could, and sent it off to the big MA race. The car had no air shields, no MA wheels, no Tx weights, no D1, no Jigaloo, and no X3 or DWS style fenders, we had time to fashion only a quick set of old style wedge fenders....I thought well, worst case I get to spend the day with my Grandson watching the race live, something we both were looking forward to since beginning the build.
The race began, and the car did well considering the issues it had, we finished 3rd overall...or so we thought anyway. It turns out there was some issue with the software that ended up having an affect on the position of our car , and I think we will end up 4th overall...just our luck again ! I saw on a couple of the forums yesterday that there may have been an issue with the scores, so I called Greg today to let him know we are fine with the situation, and in no way want 3rd place if we didn't actually win it. The salt in the wounds is that our Council car (with the same wheels) is faster than our MA car. Had I known the Council race was being canceled, I could have sent the Council car to MA.... I'll be honest with you, that one stings a little .
This was our first MA event, and unfortunately they had a few issues this year, but things happen and it was a lot of fun to watch live ! Hopefully they can incorporate sound next year, having sound just gives that feeling of actually being there. I'm sure they will also work out a couple of the other minor bugs they had as well.
Thanks again Greg for all of your hard work planning and running this event, there is no such thing as MA without you and your efforts.
