My cars have always come back from league races with the same tune as when I sent them, and I don't glue the axles.
At our Awana race last night, my middle son's car got 0.100 seconds worse between it's 2 heat in the finals and its 3rd and 4th final heats. (That's a huge loss, and was enough to cost him a trophy). My kids will be glueing axles for Awana races from now on. I think it was damaged when the car runners threw it into the box to return to the staging table. I didn't notice any stop section issues.

xanthrum....if using air shields that are not clear, do you remove wheels for inspection before or after racing?

I've used PCB drills to fine tune the holes. Although a #43 is 0.089", a 2.2mm (0.0866") will ream out the hole for a nice fit. I have 2.2mm (0.0866"), 2.25mm (0.0885") and 2.3mm (0.0906"). 2.2mm makes a nice press fit. I use a 2.25mm when using set screws. 2.3mm is for harder surfaces (plastics or metals).

Gee... I don’t think those things are good to ream with. I think the hole isn’t quite round that way.
I use chucking reamers from 089, 0895, .09, .0905, .091, .0915

I'm not sure if we're going to send a car to MA. I'm short on time, and the car we've been working on is having all kinds of issues. If we do send a car it will probably be our Camo Vanish car, it's a pretty strong runner, but has black air shields, so I hope it won't be an issue.

It states right in the rules that Officials will remove wheel(s) if all lettering is not clearly visible.

I wouldn't care if they pulled wheels after the race, but before the race could cause a lot of issues. I'm guessing they check for oil in graphite classes after the race, and in leagues they check wheel weight after the race...so I'm not sure when they would pull wheels on cars that were using colored air shields.

Hello Ember. In the races that I've entered in Canada they want to see our wheels at Check-in. We don't have a Check-out.

The only person that calls me Joey is DerbyDud... Let’s try try to keep it that way... Otherwise it may seem less special when he speaks with me.
