Where is this video you speak of? Yeah it’s on a thread on Pinewood Derby Racers Facebook group. Can’t easily post a video here or I would have put it here as well. Don’t want to go through a YouTube upload. I’ve been talking with Joel, and he is going to send me 2 wheels, he said he only had two #1 Ultra lights in stock, which I find hard to believe... hopefully they are better. If not I’ll be sending them all back for a refund. I’m going to order some similar cut wheels from Jewkes today and we will see which ones ride more smoothly. Maybe I’ll do a side by side video.

Just watched the video of you spinning the wheels. Was there damage to the outer hub? Maybe it was lighting, but it looked that way on my tiny phone screen. There does seem to be a misshaped bore on the worst wheel of the set.

Oh that might be a pay per view!
One of the more tech guys can likely help with the video.
I'm praying Andre, the IT staff or mf friend that is planning on shooting the video of WCGP can deal with all the live feed, upload, ....
I would like to emcee the event.

Also found this shaved plastic stuck to the back of the wheel left over from the cutting. Thought that removing it might help the unbalanced feel of the wheel, but it made no difference.

Who, who, who , who? LMAO! That was a good catch. I would expect better Quality Control for a wheel that is marked up over 100%. Guess you just have to do your own and be willing to make a stink about it when things aren’t right. This is the 3rd set of machined wheels I have purchased. From my experience you typically see 3 good wheels and one not so good wheel like they are expecting everyone to rail ride and accept one crappy wheel. Just about to pull the trigger on an order from Jewkes.

I had a set of bad wheels from Jewkes once. In his defense, it wasn't his fault (shipping damage) and he took care of them immediately without any extra work on my behalf (no sending things back or claims through the post office).

Joel had sent me replacement wheels to replace a couple that had bad hubs. He even threw in a couple extra. I felt he resolved my issue quickly. This is when I started racing at the league. In hindsight, it was probably caused by my prep, but I didn't realize it at the time. I've yet to try Jewkes out yet, but intend to at some point.

Yo! That Derby Worx Haas CNC lathe is bad ass.
Soooo... DW cuts wheels for Joel?
BTW...
Welcome to the forum, Wes!
Good to have you posting over here.

Derby Worx was making wheels for Randy at MV for some time, It appears that will still continue under Joel's ownership. I believe Joel cuts his own wheels under the DE moniker.

I asked him, and he said DE wheels are cut in house. The Derby Worx wheels are more out of rounds than I would have expected for a premium wheel. I will be using DE or Jewkes for future wheel purchases.
