I'd like to Thank Eagle for telling me to start sharing pic's of this car... Or do a Build Topic. Sugar Creek .. Thank You for the inspiration to build a vintage looking car with fenders.. using a vintage 1956 Pinewood Derby kit. I start of by showing some different image's of this car that can be seen.. by donaguirre on devianART. Here is a image of a my pattern showing a car drawing of the original 1954 car drawing (seen in orange!) my drawing is seen in blue. And the car in the background! I chose to run the car with open fenders showing the wheels as seen in the first pic. And to shorten the wheel base from 5-1/4'' to 4-3/4'' to let the front fenders stick over to keep the 7-3/8'' over all length. Anyhow I'm not going to post lots of pics of this car build.. just show where I'm at with it in the build so far. Sugar Creek thanks for the offer on the Windshield.. I was digging around in my derby stuff and had one on a molded plastic sheet. Anyhow looking forward to getting this thing painted and race ready .. running on no lube and penny finish nails for axles.

Looks fantastic Whodathunkit! I cannot believe how quickly you've progressed on this build. I'm going to have to divert time soon to get my vintage build(s) going. Anyone else thinking about running the Vintage 1953 class at www.TheWestCoastGrandPrix.com ? These cars are a different build with all kinds of different interesting things to look at and think about. Ember when are we going to see what you are up to.

Doug, I'm still recouping from the flu and bronchitis, so I haven't been doing much of anything. I have tinkered with a couple different preps and spray lubes, but so far the results have been disappointing.

Ember hope you are back at full speed soon. I look forward to seeing what you come up with this season. And, I really hope you will be sending in to WCGP. Two months to go. Lots of things to get and get done, but I have a really good feeling that this is going to be a great event for all who participate.
Sorry I've been really busy or I would have known you weren't feeling well. Look forward to conversing with you soon.

Well today's painting session went pretty well .. like always painting this one by brush in hand. I chose to use organic green, vanilla white, silver, yellow, brown & black for the paint color scheme for this car. Now I know what most of you are probably saying about the organic green paint... ( YUCK! That's one ugly green paint color!) Looking at the green paint color in this image: Sometime's you just have to step out of the ordinary and try different things to give something built today the look of what it must it been like back then. So with that in mind I chose to use the organic green for the main color of the car. And to use a vanilla white to give the vent hood side panels on the car.. that later Corvette look as well. Okay Eagle, so you're not seeing a #3 on the car like the image way above! To some it my look like the #9. Well Guys' my Step Dads Last name was Greenlee. So that's why I chose the green paint color scheme.. and the #9 to represent a G. Getting close'er to getting this build wrapped up.

Thank's Joe! Okay Guy's I did a better job of painting the car yesterday! Then i did on painting the wheels early this morning as I chose to paint the rims Yellow with a Silver rim ring for that vintage look. Anyhow here are a few more pic's of the 1935 Castafiore Rema /Tipo C-30. Okay.. how many of you would be cross eyed..If you had to cut out the letter C that's seen in the grill of the car.. And then the air vents louvers also seen on the front fenders.. out of some chrome HVAC tape with an an X-Acto Knife. Then try focusing on applying them to the car? No wounder I had such a hard time trying to paint the wheels after that !! Anyhow Front and Back and Top views: Well there it is my version of a Vintage 1935 Castafiore Rema / Tipo C-30 Pinewood Derby Racer. Once More.. Sugar Creek Thank you for the inspiration of doing a vintage pinewood derby car build with fenders. Attachments:

Great attention to detail. Another Work of Art! I know now you have some cool tools, but I still must learn how you get a hand paint job so shinny and smooth. I cannot wait to see this car in person at www.TheWestCoastGrandPrix.com

I'll be lucky to get that one done with all the other irons in the various fires.
