I just received this PM and thought maybe pinewoodcnc, Alphonso, or someone could lend a hand. Good Afternoon: Your name was given to me as a potential source to help me out with a pinewood derby idea. I am working with my grandson on a BSA pinewood derby car project and we have been brain storming ideas. We have found a car design, and are trying to find someone who could take it the next step and do the CAD work and possibly print it out or refer us to someone who could. Our car would actually be an existing pine "wedge" design with the proper axle/wheel spacing, with the printed body/shell attached to the top/side of the wooden "chassis". We have images of the car that we are hoping to have printed out, and will gladly send them to you or anybody else that might be able to help us. Do you know if it is even possible for our idea to have a printed body on a pinewood derby "base" done? Thanks for your time and any information on this will be greatly appreciated. Take Care

If the CAD is done couldn't it be sent to Shapeways to print?

I've emailed back and forth with bob a bit. I don't have time right now to take this on. I can model it from pictures but that takes to much time right now. If you guys can find any cad data on it I could scale it into PWD conformity quickly. I can even turn and STL file into a solid model so if you find a 3ds file or any thing like that I could help with that then someone could print it.

Yep. He sent me some photos of an Aston Martin.
It looks like a really New tricked out one... a bunch of side vents on it or something...
Probably catch a ton of air. Looks really cool though. Kinda spikey.
I’ll look around to see what I can find on it.

If you can find a 1:32 scale die cast model or toy car of one and don't mind me painting it I can 3D scan it and create the car in about an hour. It won't look as nice as a modeled one because the scan will be an STL converted to solid model. But if you cut it from wood a little sandpaper smooths that right up.

Of course Peluso is useless and MIA. He is on holiday with his family this week.

I came to the site w/o logging in. I can see this. Can I post?
Seems the "need to register" thing could use some work... - Eric

Test guest - This is an open thread. Why would you need to register?

Kurt had set up the forum as "needing approval to register". Seems to me that if you can peruse the forums and interact, it kinda negates the whole register, right?
I'm fine with going either way on this.
This post was just an experiment to see how open we are...

On top of those revelations...
Who is this guy Bob?
What happened to him?
We need to lock this place down.
