Ok fellas...
This is is it!
These rules are being formed as I type these words...so unless your name is the Ballwasher or Alphonso Peluso... please chime in and help out here.
I am thinking we split off into teams and create some far out designs... and then race them.
The catch is that the winner will be decided by a points system... where we will vote on the cars to decide which is the coolest looking or the most imaginative design...
This will account for more than 50% of the points...
With the remainder of the points being awarded for speed...
Not sure how that will all work, so any fella that is good with math please chime in...
Actually... the Ballwasher has shown himself to be useful on the subject of handicapping... so maybe it would be good for him to chime in after all.
We will race at either Nipwordle, MA, or The Soulboxer race...
and vote on the coolest designs right here on this forum.
Thoughts?

That's a tough call, Joe. It's essentially what I had proposed for SRs over at Nipwordle: Make it a two-part competition, looks and speed. In case of tie, speed wins.
But watching the progression of showstoppers over the last couple years, I rarely get the sense of a fair shake, with the winner very often being chosen by popularity on the forum, rather than detailed skill of build. I remember one SR winning the Showstopper voting when no submitted picture of it showed a complete car.
So, I'm not sure how to select the winning entry and have it be actually based on imagination, detail, and concept instead of whose butt is being kissed at that particular time.

Let's do this.

That is easy... I can have an overriding vote to chose the winner... sorta like the electoral college... hopefully it will never be necessary to use these powers... and everyone will vote based on what they see... but I think that I everyone here can agree that I am not known for my ass kissing abilities... naturally... my own cars will be exempt from this correction of the hysteria of the masses... but I will get over it if it goes down that way. Edit: It hadn’t occurred to me that fellas may try to gain favor with me through voting... if I see this happening then I will course correct that way and deduct points from my score. Just an idea... Now then... Thinking... Olympic style judging for the looks... for speed it will be jusged from 1-10 with bumps in points occurring every .005 ish? if the car is .01 faster than a rival then a point

Two honors - One for innovation. 1 for speed.
Thoughts. 1) One award for most innovative: points for things that make it unique and different. Looks can be part of that. But, also style, new ideas etc. 2) Innovation judging is decided before race. 3) If the same car wins both fantastic. 4) If not, it doesn't kill creativity all to make the car ultra fast. 5) Make sure there is an odd number of people voting ahead of time or an agreed upon tie breaker (better yet make the speed factor even if it doesn't win the overall race). This brings it back to design. 6) Everybody is designing for the same class/set of rules. 7) as to the speed part it would be super cool if everyone had to run the same wheels, axles, prepped the same way preferably by the same person (maybe even installed and tuned by a knowledgeable person who doesn't have a dog in the race. so that it really is all about the design and not who has the best prep and secrets.
