Alphonso...congrats again on your victory. Was your car lubed at any time after you sent it off to the race? Thanks Ember. No Casper was not lubed after I sent it to the race. Nothing magic happened. It’s just a well built innovative car! Thanks Alphonso.....I asked only because in one of your recent posts you noted that your D1 dried out during shipping to a race. I was wondering if you found a way to keep it from drying out for a proxy race, or if you just went with another lube.

Well fellas... I gave it my best effort... but that Team Marciano Car was just too quick for me. Congrats to Alphonso on his car Casper! Hopefully you run Krystal Deelite at another race and you can squeeze a little more speed out of her. Good racing you pal. Thanks Joe! Let’s keep it going! Let’s lay down some simple themes ie.’Ghost’ and then build innovative cars to meet the theme and RACE them. I think the key is to race them, and we WILL GROW this hobby! Peace Brother! Hey Alphonso, If the members of Nipwordle cannot say hello to me on an open forum... for the fear of offending Mojo... I can handle that. but when my friends also get treated with that type of rudeness... I cannot forgive that. Don’t ask me again to race over there.. it is highly unlikely.

LM, i think you gotta brush this stuff off. Mojo doesn't speak for NPWDRL. There's going to be people you don't get along with in any group larger than about 10 people.

True.
Thanks JS.
It’s all good.
Joel and his family are running the best league that I have ever seen and Skywalker and 5Kids are doing a tremendous job helping out.
I hope they keep up the good work.
I’m not going to let one racer keep me from participating and help to build the hobby.

Hello All, I hope that your post race week is going well. I'm writing to provide you all with some more information about 'Casper' my showstopper entry for February. As many of you are aware I was inspired by Lasermans' 'Ghost Car' that he posted pics of on his forum. When I saw it I thought to myself I could build something similar, so I did and 'Casper' was born. While I was building 'Casper' I kept thinking, 'Why are the 'PWD Illuminati' always discussing new ideas but never racing? So I challenged Joe 'Laserman' Puma to a PINKS race and to my surprise he accepted. That part of the story most of you know. What you may not know is that 'Casper' is a fully 3D Printed PWD Car. 'Casper' is the result of almost two years of prototyping. I wish I could of just pushed the button on the 3D Printer and a magical car would print out but unfortunately it's not magic. The first part of creating a prototype requires a knowledge of Computer 3D Modeling Software. I use a Computer 3D Modeling Software called Rhino (Rhinoceros). The software was developed in the late 1990's for the Marine and Jewelry industries. In the early 2000's it was adopted by Architects because of it's capability to easily create free-form double curved surfaces. One of the many challenges that I had during prototyping was keeping the weight down. Since the PLA (poly lactic acid) plastic that I use is denser and heavier than wood I had to come up with a design that would both be light and strong. 'Casper' is is made up of two parts, the body and the top, mimicking what's called a monocoque design (see pics below). The body has a very thin bottom plate that is .04” thick and the sides are .03” thick. The body has two horizontal blocks that house the axles similar to the ladder type bodies that many of you build. The top is an important part because it serves as a stiffener very similar to the way that Airplanes get there stiffness. The top is only .02” thick. The body is flexible as Zeebzob pointed out in Episode 68 of his widely acclaimed podcast. Every external surface of the two part body is sanded and polished up to 2000 grit which makes it smooth and also reduces it's weight. Some people have pointed out what looks to be cross hatching diagonal lines on the surface that look 'unfinished' but I can assure them that a lot of post 3D Printing efforts go into the build. Another interesting piece of information is that I do not drill the body. The axle holes are part of the design and 3D Print. Another challenge that I've had is holding steer because the 3D Printed axle holes tend to expand over time and the post office loves to tune my cars I would be glad to answer any questions that you might have about the design process and build. I encourage everyone to go vote for the February showstopper because there are some amazing cars this month! Best, Alphonso (Team Marciano) Attachments:
