It is balsa...
Looks dark and grainy but also heavy.
The Plastic is so easy though...
And not bad on weight.

have got tried acetone vapor finishing for 3D printed parts? I’ve watched videos, but never tried it. i noticed some smoothing going on by painting on some methylene chloride on the nylon though. a month ago, I took my class on a field trip to Shapeways and they offered all of us a free print. I might take them up on that offer. The nylon print should come out considerably lighter than the print I the photo.

I hadn't been exposed to PWD then. Man those balsa CNC'd fenders are sweet!
Too much work? Cost prohibitive?
I'm going to have to check a center section from Shapeways. I'm guessing they are lighter then the ones you printed.
