Well, yours truly continues to suck like a...well...a thing that sucks a lot.
Yet again failed to break 3 seconds in the Box Stock. I think I averaged 3.006 or something? So close and yet...so far.
Problem I'm seeing is that there's so many variables here:
- VK's laziness in not making fenders -
Eh, maybe, maybe not. - VK's cheapness with not buying fenders -
Bet you know a guy who'd sell em to ya cheap- VK's obsession with bent axles - I won't pile on here
- VK's cheapass choice of oil (Unmodified Krytox) -
could be; what else ya got?- VK's refusal to buy the Black Ice bore prep kit -
bore prep is CRITICAL in this class, as its the only thing you can do to the wheels- Crappy preparation of BSA axles -
Eh. Find the best/straightest ones you have, give them a light polish, taper the head and let er rip. Don't even need to get rid of crimp marks (think there's a thread on Johns forum or NPWDRL somewhere about this)- Crappy selection of BSA wheels -
Yep; select the best wheels you can. Check bore sizes, runout, etc.. Can't modify so gotta start off with good wheelsAnd, of course, I don't have a track, so the only time I get to see whether or not something worked is when I send it in.
same here for nowSO...I think what I'm gonna do is build a second BS car and try to keep it as close to the build of the first...but change just one thing...and then send it in concurrently. This does increase my monthly postage and car fees...but I think I can slip two cars a months under the wife's radar.
Yes!The first thing I'll probably try is drilled cant instead of bent axles. Much as it would pain me to prove my approach wrong, it's better to be proven wrong and move on than to languish in ignorance.
If I can, I'll add fenders to both cars...but only if I can manage to do both of them.
And of course if y'all wanna share some Box Stock secrets with me along the way, well, I won't complain about that.
