This year’s Pinewood Derby is being held on March 26th at St. Mary’s Gym.
You, and your scout, need to be at the gym AT LEAST 15 min before your scheduled Race Start Time to have your car inspected and weighed in. If you are late and judging has been completed for the categories of Funniest, Most Original, and Most Detailed, your car will be ineligible for these titles. If you are late, and the race has started, your scout will not be able to enter his car in the race for his rank. Each rank races together. Time slots for each rank are listed below.

PLEASE follow the rules (listed below). The boys do not understand, no matter what the explanation, if they are disqualified. And, this happens almost every year because parents alter the kits beyond what is allowed, particularly with the wheels and axles. Be cautious of the kits sold on-line and at local hobby shops. The parent will be advised of the disqualification and have to explain to their son. Please let's try to have a year of no disqualifications.
You should essentially only use what is provided in the kit Santa gave each boy, of course carved, painted and decorated as HE sees fit. Whatever you do, do not use any wheels kits besides those provided to you and do not make the car wider, longer, shallower, or over the 5 oz. weight limit. You do want to try and get the weight as close to 5 oz. as possible, without going over, since this is one of the key factors in racing faster. We use a foam box cut with an opening just as wide and long as official dimensions listed below. If the car does not fit in that slot than it can't even race because it will interfere with the others cars by rubbing against them.
Bring parts, additional weights to add if able, and minor tools to fix your car if need be. Once you register your car it is taken to the "pits" where it is not allowed to be handled anymore until after the rank races.
Pit Crew: Parent Volunteers – We will need assistance from parents the day of the race. Please make yourself available to help make it a great day.
