Good episode. I think your explanations of track mods need some visuals, though. Kind of hard to work that into an audio format, of course. Hadn't thought about the lack of Nationals Publicity, but, yeah...been dead silent. I know John is probably still feeling the devastation of losing a child, and he recently went in for surgery on his achilles, so possibly he's sidelined by all that. Maybe needs to delegate the drum beating to somebody else. Where's Mr. Chips when you need 'em? I too lament the loss of Andy Rooney. Where's his alter-ego Cramjet been lately? Haven't heard much of ol' Nate on the forums as of late. Hope he's doing ok. Do you plan to line up more guests? Whatever happened to the interview with VFC?

Nice Podcast Zeeb.....I haven't been able to wear Nike for years. I went with New Balance for awhile because they have wider sizes, but still needed more width. I've been wearing Propet now for a few years and love them. I wear anywhere from a 11.5 6E, to a 12 5E....it'a hard to find comfortable shoes in that width.

Conversation I had with my kid recently: Him: You should do a vlog Me: I do a podcast Him: I have listened to zero podcasts. I watch vlogs all the time. Maybe I'll leave the opportunity open for one of you beautiful people out there to do a vlog about this stuff. Yeah, I hate to see anyone go through what John went through. Hopefully he'll come out okay in the end. Cramjet just passed his Class A CDL test. "On the Road with Rooney" has a nice ring to it I was gonna do an interview with someone about the last race...but then they ended up not sending in. I'll still try to do that from time to time. I found that I would push it off and push it off, always worrying that I would run out of things to ask someone...and then podcasts never happened. So I'll go this route for a while and do the occasional guest. I guess If I had my druthers, I would like someone here with me. Just easier to have a conversation. You didn't hear the VFC?

Nice podcast! I don't know what a vlog even is. One question for you though... was someone sleeping in the next room that you didn't want to wake up. It seemed like you were speaking at a golf event. Nevertheless, thanks for doing this!

Nevertheless, thanks for doing this! A vlog is a blog, but in video format. I hadn't had my coffee yet. IllI try to remember to record after coffee next week and be more perky.

A shout out is better than a shout at. Thanks I think! I appreciate all the info about the stop sections. I wish I would have known more before our first girl scout event. I had only seen the beautiful track on youtube. The idea of the cars we spent so much time on sailing down the track, hitting a foam block and flying never entered my mind pre-race. Before we even got signed in the kid who was assigned to the cars was told to take them and give them a once down the track. As we were completing the paperwork I look up and see my youngest car flying thru the air, flipping and landing on its canopy on the exposed aggregate floor. They had another section of track, but didn't want to put it on. They actually made the foam the finish line instead of ahead of it. Her car got slower and slower due to axle damage. And, the paint job was trashed.
We don't have access to a track, so we were told if we helped we could test. We ran four cars to see if any fine tuning was necessary and decide which were going to be entered. Our slowest car was still faster than the rest. So, they would launch off end and onto carpet... So, I put my coat down to stop them. But, then as other cars came off they would pile onto the leaders. Our most time consuming, expensive, beautiful car didn't even make the race she got so beat up. Race day, during all the heats, I got all the cars stopped at the end of the track. Then they did best overall boys and girls. The track overseer, starter etc decided to give the track a sweep first. He took off what I had at the end and swept. When he put it back the cars all launched. I did my best, but it was never the same.
If I could afford it and take it with I believe I would take a stop section along with my tuning board just to save the stress and reduce the risk of catastrophic costly damage.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've heard a story like yours. When my oldest by was in scouts, we were lucky that the stop section on our pack's track was pretty good. I remember the horror the first time I went to a race with a poor stop section. I hope my tips help and can come into play. Thanks for listening!

I think that most all of us will be faced with a bad stop section at one time or another.

Another great podcast Zeeb!
Nice shoutout to Eagle. lol! Snake-pit is a bit harsh though.
To all the new fellas over here,
The Laserman forum may seem a bit rough and tumble... but your intrepid host has seen every trick in the book... and has even invented a few.
My watchful eye never sleeps... and I will intervene if called upon.
