Cherokee chuck,
Thank's for the info on the axles.. and I know what your saying about picking out the good axles.
You might know of my posting on Derby Talk about a vintage pinewood derby car with a different wheel style.
( little bit wider tread patch and a hub used on the wheels.)
Picks of the car and wheel style. 1964 trophy seen in the back ground.
View AttachmentView Attachment What gets me is the kit style is the very same to the 1956 Beta craft's kits, even the large head axles and the long box decal, and car plan sheet.
The only difference are the wheels used for this kit style.
Here is an 8 car box bulk set i picked up of this very kit style .. what's crazy is the catalog number of 1699 and Cub Scouts seen on the kit box.
View AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentThe first 8 car box bulk sets that were advertised in 1955 in B.S.A publications had a catalog number as 1699 as well.
However i was told that this kit was not made by Beta crafts or by CMI .. per Steven Hasselbach!
Cant tell you how many cars i'v collected with this wheel style .. but i can tell you that this kit style dates back to 1964.
