BSB showed me a picture of his on Zeeb's site, so I need to give him credit for my wire. I find them easy to bend!

My mini at APR broke the track record at 2.466 on Feb 18 and also the 6 run record.

Cool! Do you have a photo? I have not made one. I helped stage them at the last PWD racing race. They are small and interesting. I should try one one of these days.

Here is a BSB style guide pin with a bead on it. A very cool idea that if your car wiggles the bead will hit the track rail to try and keep the speed up. Sorry to bring up an old thread but I was reading through all the post on here and this one gave me an idea. What if you made a guide pin with a bearing on it(like this bead) and steered the opposite direction using the bearing to ride the rail down? Could that give you some speed?

My theory of proper railriding alignment is that if you do your DFW correctly, it gives you rolling friction on the rail anyhow. Because of that, I don't think a bearing bearing (did you see what I did there?) guide pin would net you any extra speed.

Your DFW would still be causing friction by steering, and you'd be adding in extra friction by adding another wheel (albeit a very small one that rolls easily).
I can visualize a car that is set to roll straight, with bearing bearing pins on either side that would clamp the rail like a rollercoaster. Would need to be adjustable width and light pressure...

I like that idea!!! You could have a spring on both of them with light pressure. Would that be legal?

I've thought of that as well, but don't have easy access to a track to test. I do wonder if just using a small bearing wheel like that would be better than a normal guide pin and set steer per usual. I do like these different guide pins though. Now when you look at cars everyone is using a standard one. I am still bending mine like the photo. I like to do the more complicated way.

My intuition tells me that would almost certainly be slower. But what does intuition know? Would be interesting to see a proof-of-concept, for certain.
